Design Opportunities for AR
The Future of AR and all the wonderful Possibilities
The digital and technological landscape is constantly changing, and in many ways accelerating. As designers we are tasked to come up with innovative ideas and have to keep track of what is trending and where the creative opportunities are.
Three Things I think designer’s should ask themselves before innovating especially when it comes to AR :
- What is my Why?
- What problem will this product solve?
- How does this product offer an Immersive experience?
Possible Trends That I Think May Come About
A) Using AR as a unique way of shopping for clothes :
Imagine if we could utilize AR-enabled shopping technologies to pick out which dress or suite we like, all from the comfort of our own homes, now wouldn’t that be great?
B) AR for Navigation Solutions
For our final RE project, my team and I had this idea in the beginning of creating AR glasses to help people walk back home safely at night. This AR system would help provide directions to the most safest and most lit route to the person’s desired destination, instead of walking in a street that’s dark or doesn’t have a lot of people.
C) AR for Buddy Creation
Dogs are a human’s best friend BUT! What if you could create your own buddy monster that you can see through AR Glasses, this monster would follow you around (sort of like a Pokemon). Your monsters can fight other evil monsters in the world, and you could collect points the more you use it.
